Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cardinals came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Eichenberg that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They will need Liufau to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Terrion Arnold went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
In pick 27 they get a premier pass rusher, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid up for Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 3 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trey Benson in slot 66 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
They jumped the gun on Marist Liufau, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Gabriel Murphy in the 89th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Blake Fisher at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board had Tommy Eichenberg higher than No. 140, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Jones. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brevyn Spann-Ford at No. 227 is the proof. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
