Nobody else had Brenden Rice anywhere near No. 81. The Cardinals did, by 32 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Egbuka steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 7 they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Emeka Egbuka in Round 2, Pick 4, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Blake Corum at pick No. 68 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Leonard Taylor III went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They talked themselves into Brenden Rice at pick 81, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
