The Cardinals ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Rogers lower, and that gap is the story.
With quarterback, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Quinyon Mitchell at No. 27, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
In pick No. 30 they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Bralen Trice in the 35th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid a round early for Johnny Wilson in slot 66, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Cooper Beebe went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Roman Wilson in pick 90, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
