Arizona Cardinals

More right than wrong for the Cardinals, and a B- to prove it.

The Cardinals clearly saw something nobody else did in Justin Rogers, taking him 34 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

However the rest shakes out, Arnold at that price is a win they earned. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Joe Alt · OT · rank 3
In the 4th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R1.21 · Pick 21 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 28
In pick 21 they get a true top target. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 22
The board had Terrion Arnold higher than slot 35, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Adisa Isaac · DE-EDGE · rank 68
Adisa Isaac at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 61
A tidy bit of business in No. 71, where Edgerrin Cooper graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.22 · Pick 85 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 100
They liked Spencer Rattler enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 85. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Donovan Jackson · OG · rank 116
A conviction pick on Donovan Jackson at Round 4, Pick 4 that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 167
They reached into another round for Justin Rogers, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 165
Frank Gore Jr. at the 140th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.13 · Pick 188 · Austin Stogner · TE · rank 189
No edge and no loss on Austin Stogner in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Evan Williams · S · rank 246
Evan Williams at slot 225 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor itch, scratched.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 218
Isaiah Williams at pick No. 227 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
