The Cardinals ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
The Wiggins pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The Cardinals paired the rookies with proven help, Taylor Moton leading the way.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Joe Alt in the 4th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Nate Wiggins at No. 33 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They did well to land Brian Thomas Jr. in Round 2, Pick 3, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
T'Vondre Sweat at the 66th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Payton Wilson at par in pick No. 71, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Cooper Beebe graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Dominick Puni at Round 4, Pick 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Tykee Smith for less than the market said. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They liked Beaux Limmer enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 133. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Jaheim Bell at pick 140 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Christian Jones in pick No. 188 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Myles Jones slid further than he should have, and the 225th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Taulia Tagovailoa. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
