You could see the war room lean forward. Khyree Jackson at slot 163 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every board in the league had Fiske lower, and that gap is the story. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick 17 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Taliese Fuaga at the 36th overall pick is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Legette at No. 47 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Troy Franklin in pick No. 68 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They robbed the room for Jordan Morgan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Adisa Isaac a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Braelon Allen in slot 104. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Cam Hart at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They reached a country mile for Braden Fiske at the 141st overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 163 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Mike Sainristil in pick 183, plain and simple. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A tidy bit of business in No. 190, where Cody Schrader graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They will replay Curtis Jacobs at slot 225 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
A tight end of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 6 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
