The real work happened on the phones. The Raiders fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The cost of the Gore Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Roman Wilson at par in pick No. 47, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Xavier Worthy in slot 51 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Cade Stover in pick 77, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Christian Mahogany in No. 98; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Jones at the 112th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Mason McCormick went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 12. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Frank Gore Jr. at the 208th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Caedan Wallace worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They jumped the gun on Daijahn Anthony, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
