Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Vikings spent the 241st overall pick on Justin Eboigbe, a name the board had a full 31 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but offensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
Trey Benson at Round 2, Pick 20 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They talked themselves into Jordan Travis at pick 120, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Lathan Ransom in the 157th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in No. 162 with a little surplus value in Billy Bowman Jr.. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They took Jaylin Simpson at par in slot 163, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Darius Robinson at the 179th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Justin Eboigbe this early at the 241st overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
