Minnesota Vikings

More right than wrong for the Vikings, and a B to prove it.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Vikings spent pick No. 129 on Johnny Dixon while safety, running back and other spots sat unaddressed. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Phillips.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 15
In No. 13 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
R2.10 · Pick 42 · Byron Murphy II · DL · rank 43
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Byron Murphy II. The roster fit checks out.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 103
They did well to land Dominick Puni in pick No. 108, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Johnny Dixon · CB · rank 124
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went cornerback with Johnny Dixon while clear needs at safety, running back and other spots sat open.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 125
Tommy Eichenberg at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 143
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick 148 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 162
Joe Milton III in slot 160 is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.29 · Pick 165 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 159
Good price on LaDarius Henderson in Round 5, Pick 29, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Grayson Murphy · DL-EDGE · rank 164
They took Grayson Murphy at par in the 166th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Andru Phillips · CB · rank 167
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Andru Phillips at the 179th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.10 · Pick 230 · Trevor Keegan · OG · rank 226
Trevor Keegan in Round 7, Pick 10 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
