After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Vikings committed. Bo Nix is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
However the rest shakes out, Trice at that price is a win they earned. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Nix to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 11 they get a long-term answer under center, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They robbed the room for Bralen Trice here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Marshawn Kneeland in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land Tommy Eichenberg in slot 130, just ahead of his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nehemiah Pritchett in Round 5, Pick 12 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Chau Smith-Wade in pick No. 160 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Nothing to complain about; Kitan Oladapo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Isaiah Davis went about where he belonged in No. 179. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Joshua Cephus at pick 230 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
