The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Chris Paul Jr. slide 95 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They will need Prieskorn to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
With edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Tate Ratledge went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Xavier Watts still on the board at slot 68. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kurtis Rourke. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A curious use of Round 4, Pick 3. Edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Andrew Mukuba did not.
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at the 139th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Miles Frazier at the Round 6 slot, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Chris Paul Jr. at No. 212 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Caden Prieskorn in No. 216 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Eli Stowers at the 221st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
