Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jha'Quan Jackson got past him. The Eagles do not have to explain a thing at pick 210.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Melton has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Nick Bolton gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, even if it was a touch early.
A slide stopped in No. 53, with Chris Braswell worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid a round early for Max Melton in slot 64, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
By-the-book stuff, Theo Johnson at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Marist Liufau at par in pick 161, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Tykee Smith, who had no business lasting to the 171st pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khristian Boyd. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jha'Quan Jackson in Round 6, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
