Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent pick No. 199 on Evan Williams, a name most had 21 spots down the list. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
On value alone, Schrader makes the weekend a net positive. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Zack Moss deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Kamari Lassiter in slot 43; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Christian Haynes in the 78th overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jalen McMillan in the 111th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tommy Eichenberg in Round 4, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Mohamed Kamara at No. 129 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dallin Holker at the 148th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in pick No. 158: Smael Mondon Jr. for less than the market said. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Cameron Ward at the 189th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Evan Williams at pick 199 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cody Schrader at No. 232. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
