You build a draft on nights like this. Chris Paul Jr. had no business being available in Round 6, Pick 37, and the Raiders did the only sane thing and turned in the card. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Horn Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. So much rides on Shedeur Sanders that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, cornerback and other spots went begging.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at the 68th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A curious use of Round 3, Pick 9. Edge rusher, cornerback and other spots needed the pick; a safety in Malachi Moore did not.
By-the-book stuff, Luke Kandra at slot 107 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Deontae Lawson was still sitting there in No. 142, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
You do not let a running back like Nicholas Singleton reach pick 179 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Chris Paul Jr. at the 212th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Elijhah Badger in pick No. 216, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jimmy Horn Jr. in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
