Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Spencer Rattler. He came off 40 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Bobby Okereke pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
Zach Frazier at pick No. 39 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They reached a country mile for Christian Haynes at the 44th pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Braden Fiske at par in Round 2, Pick 15, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Spencer Rattler in the 77th overall pick says they were not listening. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach for Cedric Gray in the Round 4 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They reached into another round for Braiden McGregor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Kamal Hadden at the 161st overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They went early on Tip Reiman in Round 6, Pick 35, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid up for Kimani Vidal at pick No. 227 when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
