The rest of the league will want that one back. Kimani Vidal tumbling to the Cardinals in No. 227 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will answer for taking cornerback early while tight end and linebacker went begging. The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If Rosemy-Jacksaint pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
In the end it comes back to Nate Wiggins, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Nate Wiggins at slot 22 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They read the board right and Chris Braswell was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 2. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Mahogany is a better player than pick 90 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Michael Hall Jr. in No. 95. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Khyree Jackson in the 97th pick leaves tight end and linebacker for later.
A quiet steal in the Round 4 slot: Tyler Davis for less than the market said. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Circle this one: Roman Wilson at the 105th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 132. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Travis at No. 134, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Justin Eboigbe worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had cheaper options than Christian Jones at pick 183, and it noticed. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at Round 6, Pick 13 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Isaiah Neyor in the 225th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Kimani Vidal in the 227th pick, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Daequan Hardy at pick No. 251 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
