The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 66 spots for Jaheim Bell, and value like that does not grow back.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
The Cardinals clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 17 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Braswell at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Cam Hart in the 67th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jaheim Bell at the 71st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Davis at Round 4, Pick 4 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They jumped the gun on Sataoa Laumea, taking him earlier than his grade liked. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylin Simpson. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They paid a round early for Curtis Jacobs in pick 190, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Gabe Hall in the 225th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
