You could see the war room lean forward. Wyatt Milum at the Round 6 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 6 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Ashton Jeanty all the way to the 37th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Cam Ward still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Elic Ayomanor at slot 107 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Armand Membou at Round 5, Pick 5 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 182 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Wyatt Milum in pick No. 214, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
T.J. Sanders in the 218th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a linebacker like Demetrius Knight Jr. reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
