When a board-topper like Kaden Prather slides to the Round 7 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Raiders did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The cost of the Schrader reach is exactly the players who went right after him. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a load in the middle at fair value.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at slot 44 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cooper Beebe in the 77th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Donovan Jackson in the Round 4 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A wild overpay on Cody Schrader in pick 150, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Curtis Jacobs went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 15. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They robbed the room for Kaden Prather here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
