The board owed the Raiders one, and it paid up: Tre Harris, the No. 23 name on the board, sitting there at slot 223 like a gift left on the doorstep.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Travis Hunter in No. 8 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Wyatt Milum all the way to slot 69, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Walter Nolen still on the board at the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cam Ward in pick 106 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a linebacker like Jalon Walker reach Round 5, Pick 9 and blink. They did not. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Steal is underselling it; Dylan Fairchild at the 183rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Jahdae Barron was still sitting there in pick No. 212, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Josaiah Stewart in the 216th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Tre Harris here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
