The phones were a trap the Cardinals kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C-.
On value alone, Berger makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
So much rides on Dallas Turner that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Dallas Turner in pick No. 26, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Guyton at slot 35, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Mekhi Wingo at the 66th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 3, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Travis in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Johnny Dixon in the Round 4 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in the 140th pick: Cedric Gray for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nice patience on Javon Baker, who had no business lasting to slot 188. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Jalen Berger was still sitting there in No. 225, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jontrey Hunter in the 227th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
