Somebody in slot 230 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Eagles sat still while Tykee Smith, the No. 160 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chop Robinson at the 50th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Edgerrin Cooper went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Kiran Amegadjie in No. 88 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jaden Hicks in pick 108, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Blake Fisher at par in slot 120, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Elijah Jones at the 126th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jacob Cowing is a better player than pick No. 157 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 161, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Marist Liufau at the 171st overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
AJ Barner in pick 172 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Somehow Isaiah Davis was still sitting there in No. 177, and they pounced on premier running back value. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Cody Schrader at Round 6, Pick 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Isaiah Williams in the 219th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tykee Smith in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Julian Pearl at slot 233 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 245th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
