Call it larceny. Dwight McGlothern sat on the board until pick 208, and the Raiders did not need to be asked twice. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Travis reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board had Ennis Rakestraw Jr. higher than Round 2, Pick 12, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Haynes in the 77th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Will Shipley at No. 112 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Jordan Travis at the 148th pick, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 208 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 223 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
