The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
Every board in the league had Watts lower, and that gap is the story. McClellan falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Darius Robinson at the 34th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 21 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They took Patrick Paul at par in slot 68, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy bit of business in pick 87, where Ja'Lynn Polk graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A big swing on Maason Smith at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 20, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good price on Kitan Oladapo in pick No. 161, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
They liked Khristian Boyd enough to skip the value, taking him in the 171st overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Khristian Boyd at No. 172 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Ro Torrence in pick 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Eric Watts well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Ryan Flournoy at the 210th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jase McClellan at the 244th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Steal is underselling it; Garret Greenfield at Round 7, Pick 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
