The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Eyabi Okie-Anoma, taking him 74 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The Robinson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
A quiet steal in the Round 2 slot: Darius Robinson for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Junior Colson in the 53rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy little value on Ja'Lynn Polk in No. 76, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Johnny Wilson at pick 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at slot 161 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Ty'Ron Hopper at pick 171 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They reached a country mile for Eric Watts at pick No. 172, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma at slot 210 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
