Whoever sat across the table from the Vikings should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.
The Davis pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Chris Braswell and all.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chris Braswell. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Brandon Dorlus at pick 65 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Zach Frazier at pick No. 69 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Mekhi Wingo in the 71st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A tidy little value on Junior Colson in the Round 3 slot, a step better than break-even. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Roman Wilson in Round 4, Pick 1 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Darius Robinson enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 108. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Blake Fisher slid further than he should have, and pick 109 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy bit of business in the 130th overall pick, where Kris Abrams-Draine graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javion Cohen in the 148th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Isaiah Davis. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; LaDarius Henderson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 5, Pick 32, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Curtis Jacobs at No. 179 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Ethan Driskell in Round 6, Pick 8 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Marcus Harris at par in slot 230, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Ja'Had Carter in the Round 7 slot, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
