If confidence were a draft strategy, the Vikings would have aced it. Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 179th overall pick is 62 spots clear of where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Trice that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Bralen Trice at pick 42 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Michael Pratt in No. 108; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Beaux Limmer in the 130th overall pick, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Johnny Dixon at the Round 5 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They reached into another round for Isaiah Davis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Austin Booker in pick No. 165 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at the 179th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 230 with a little surplus value in Myles Jones. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
