The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Vikings walked right past.
The Davis pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Hardy pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 13 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Chop Robinson in Round 2, Pick 10 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They read the board right and Kris Abrams-Draine was the payoff at pick 130. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Cedric Gray at slot 131 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Isaiah Davis in No. 160 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A slide stopped in the 165th overall pick, with Cedric Johnson worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Andru Phillips at the 179th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Josh Proctor at pick 193. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Marcus Harris at Round 6, Pick 38 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Daequan Hardy in pick No. 230 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
