Boards are made to be trusted, and the Raiders shredded theirs for Jamaree Caldwell. He came off 115 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Shedeur Sanders is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.1 · Pick 1 · Shedeur Sanders · QB · rank 3
In pick No. 1 they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
R2.2 · Pick 34 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 31
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tate Ratledge in pick 34. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Darien Porter · CB · rank 80
They paid a round early for Darien Porter in Round 3, Pick 1, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Jayden Higgins · WR · rank 77
Jayden Higgins in slot 72 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.2 · Pick 103 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 94
They let Kevin Winston Jr. come to them and pounced at No. 103. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.37 · Pick 138 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 109
Smael Mondon Jr. in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.2 · Pick 177 · Jamaree Caldwell · DL · rank 292
Jamaree Caldwell at Round 6, Pick 2 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Eli Stowers · TE · rank 169
They will replay Eli Stowers at slot 212 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.2 · Pick 216 · Brashard Smith · RB · rank 110
The board fumbled Brashard Smith all the way to pick No. 216, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
R7.3 · Pick 217 · Clay Webb · OG · rank 219
No edge and no loss on Clay Webb in pick 217; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
