There is reaching, and then there is Robbie Ouzts at pick No. 218. The Raiders jumped the board by 59 and dared it to prove them wrong. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Bryant steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a workhorse for the backfield. A real need, handled.
Jalen Milroe at the 37th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaiah Bond at pick 68 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Denzel Burke at No. 107 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kobe King in the Round 5 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Value said wait; Miles Frazier in the 182nd pick says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No drama and no debate, Carson Vinson went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Robbie Ouzts in Round 6, Pick 40 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a cornerback like Cobee Bryant reach pick No. 224 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
