The Raiders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Eboigbe reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. However the rest shakes out, Rice at that price is a win they earned.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Johnny Wilson is a better player than the 43rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
T.J. Tampa in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Will Shipley at pick No. 111. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Brenden Rice at No. 148 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Connor Colby at Round 6, Pick 14 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wild overpay on Justin Eboigbe in the 232nd overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
