They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Brenden Rice, 38 picks early at the 75th overall pick.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
J.J. McCarthy in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brenden Rice well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Audric Estime at Round 4, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Sainristil at pick No. 148, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They went early on Jasheen Davis in No. 189, and the value did not follow. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had cheaper options than Walter Rouse at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
