The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Ryan Flournoy slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Mahogany reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Kamari Lassiter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A wild overpay on Christian Mahogany in No. 77, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid up for Isaac Guerendo at pick No. 112 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach for Dwight McGlothern in slot 148; a little patience would have been rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They will replay Tahj Washington at the 208th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steele Chambers in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 229 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
