The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Raiders spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Monheim to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Getting Zinter where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 13th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A real need, handled.
Byron Murphy II at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Caelen Carson in the 77th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value with a capital V on Zak Zinter in slot 112, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: LaDarius Henderson in Round 5, Pick 14, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jonah Monheim at No. 190 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Jalen Green at par in pick 234, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
