Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Texans to leave a draft. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They will need Robinson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 27 they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on Kris Jenkins in pick 53; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Payton Wilson slipping to the 88th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value with a capital V on Johnny Wilson in slot 89, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 27: Trey Benson for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Beau Brade in pick No. 121 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Max Melton slid further than he should have, and the 127th overall pick is lovely value for the cornerback. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
