If confidence were a draft strategy, the Raiders would have aced it. Isaac Guerendo at the 86th overall pick is 52 spots clear of where he belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Legette falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th pick they get a cornerstone up front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No edge and no loss on T.J. Tampa in the 52nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cade Stover at pick No. 59 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
They will replay Xavier Legette at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Isaac Guerendo well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Kris Abrams-Draine higher than Round 3, Pick 36, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Brennan Jackson enough to skip the value, taking him in the 112th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Beaux Limmer this early at slot 123. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Jordan Magee, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jha'Quan Jackson in No. 208 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steele Chambers in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, KT Leveston at the 229th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Jacob Monk at pick No. 254 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
