Nobody else had Prince Pines anywhere near slot 239. The Raiders did, by 111 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
The Torrence value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
The Travis Etienne Jr. deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a building block for the line, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A real head-scratcher, Spencer Rattler in No. 44 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay T.J. Tampa at pick 77 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Brennan Jackson in slot 112, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Isaac Guerendo all the way to the 148th overall pick, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Jaylan Ford at the 208th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
Ro Torrence at the 223rd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Trajan Jeffcoat in pick 227 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A premium they did not need to pay, Bub Means a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Prince Pines at slot 239, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
