They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Bo Nix is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop.
The safety spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Ali reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Mayes value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th pick they get a franchise quarterback, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kris Jenkins in pick 44 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Khyree Jackson at pick No. 112 that the board grades a round light. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach on Nelson Ceaser in the Round 4 slot; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Moose Muhammad III at slot 149 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Justin Rogers in No. 162; it is a wash and a sensible one. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Walley. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Rasheen Ali in the 179th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had BJ Mayes higher than the 233rd pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
