The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named interior defensive lineman, a need the Eagles walked right past.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd overall pick they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Braswell at pick 50 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
T.J. Tampa in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Cedric Gray in Round 4, Pick 20; it is a wash and a sensible one. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Cornelius Johnson at the 161st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Tip Reiman in slot 171, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Kamal Hadden at par in pick No. 172, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Kimani Vidal went about where he belonged in No. 210. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
