Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jordan Magee got past him. The Raiders do not have to explain a thing at pick No. 223.
Michael Penix Jr. gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Darius Slay pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in slot 50, where Tyler Nubin graded well above the range. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They let Blake Fisher come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 13. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Value with a capital V on Mekhi Wingo in pick No. 112, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Matt Goncalves in slot 148 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Isaiah Davis still on the board at No. 208. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let a linebacker like Jordan Magee reach the 223rd overall pick and blink. They did not. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Somehow Isaiah Williams was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
