Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders bled value on every deal, hence the D+.

by Boke · 2024 NFL Draft · 14 picks · 8 steals · 6 reaches

Future A

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Jaylen Harrell a full 61 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. On value alone, McGlothern makes the weekend a net positive. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · JC Latham · OT · rank 15
In No. 32 they get a cornerstone up front, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Nate Wiggins · CB · rank 20
A cornerback of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.13 · Pick 77 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
Nice patience on Kingsley Suamataia, who had no business lasting to pick 77. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 70
They robbed the room for Devontez Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 106
Braelon Allen at the 95th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
R3.33 · Pick 96 · Roman Wilson · WR · rank 46
Steal is underselling it; Roman Wilson at pick No. 96 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · McKinnley Jackson · DL · rank 123
They reached a country mile for McKinnley Jackson at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.12 · Pick 112 · Jalen McMillan · WR · rank 99
Jalen McMillan is a better player than pick No. 112 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 209
Value said wait; Jaylen Harrell in the 148th overall pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 201
Joe Milton III at Round 5, Pick 37 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 197
Value with a capital V on Jase McClellan in No. 208, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.37 · Pick 212 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 161
The board fumbled Dwight McGlothern all the way to the 212th pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.3 · Pick 223 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 234
They jumped the gun on Trevin Wallace, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.9 · Pick 229 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 286
Zion Logue at slot 229 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
