Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Cooper Beebe, the No. 47 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 3 slot.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Gray reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
You do not let a cornerback like Kool-Aid McKinstry reach slot 50 and blink. They did not. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cooper Beebe in the 91st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid a round early for Cedric Gray in pick 104, more than the board wanted. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Johnny Wilson in No. 120; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ben Sinnott at the 125th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Tykee Smith is a better player than the Round 5 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Kamal Hadden at the 210th pick is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
