The Cardinals went off the board in a big way for Luke McCaffrey, 66 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with edge rusher, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Morgan in slot 26, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Tyler Guyton in No. 35; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Braden Fiske at Round 3, Pick 2 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Luke McCaffrey this early at the 71st overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Javon Solomon adds an OLB-EDGE and leaves edge rusher, running back and other spots untouched.
