The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Cedric Gray slide 34 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out a thoroughly average C-.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

So much rides on Laiatu Latu that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Laiatu Latu · DL-EDGE · rank 10
In the 22nd pick they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
R1.23 · Pick 23 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 21
In the 23rd overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
They will replay Quinyon Mitchell at slot 50 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 84
Khyree Jackson slipping to pick 97 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 126
They robbed the room for Cedric Gray here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Ainias Smith · WR · rank 131
Ainias Smith in No. 161 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Sione Vaki · S · rank 169
Circle this one: Sione Vaki at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
