When a board-topper like Braelon Allen slides to slot 161, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
If Dallas Turner and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a disruptor off the edge, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 50 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at slot 53, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Braelon Allen at pick No. 161 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Joe Milton III in the 210th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
