You build a draft on nights like this. Mason McCormick had no business being available in the 172nd overall pick, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 22nd pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper in slot 50 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Xavier Worthy at pick No. 53, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Theo Johnson at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They will replay Anthony Gould at Round 5, Pick 25 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tykee Smith at No. 171 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 172nd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
