Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Rosengarten. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean in No. 22 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A quiet steal in pick 50: Tyler Nubin for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bralen Trice. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 61st pick, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Gabriel Murphy at slot 98 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Brenden Rice at pick No. 99 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A safety of that caliber at the 126th pick is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Roger Rosengarten all the way to the 161st overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kamal Hadden at pick No. 171 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy little value on Tip Reiman in No. 187, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Jaylen Harrell in Round 6, Pick 31, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
