Thirty-one other rooms let Kamal Hadden slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at pick No. 210. Highway robbery. For now it grades a C, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.
So much rides on Kool-Aid McKinstry that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 26 they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They read the board right and Kamari Lassiter was the payoff at slot 51. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Javon Bullard went about where he belonged in the 53rd pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 57th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Christian Mahogany in pick 98 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Nehemiah Pritchett all the way to Round 5, Pick 25, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Tykee Smith higher than No. 171, and the safety fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
A tidy little value on Jordan Jefferson in pick 187, a step better than break-even. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; Kamal Hadden at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
