The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Vikings watched Tre Harris slide 49 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Taliese Fuaga in slot 26 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Javon Foster. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kris Jenkins at the 58th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They read the board right and Smael Mondon Jr. was the payoff at No. 120. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Malik Mustapha in pick 157 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 161st overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Mike Sainristil at Round 6, Pick 4 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
They let Ben Bywater come to them and pounced at pick No. 211. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Circle this one: Tre Harris at pick No. 241 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
