The Raiders' one glaring miss is wide receiver, a need they left exactly as they found it. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Getting Cooper where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They are betting Milton III proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Jared Verse at pick 13 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Byron Murphy II at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Edgerrin Cooper was still sitting there in No. 77, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A premium they did not need to pay, Joe Milton III a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in the 190th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Watson slid further than he should have, and the 234th overall pick is lovely value for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
